The government campaign to bolster the public’s awareness of a referendum against the EU’s refugee settlement quota has been under way for months. Hungary’s highest court, the Curia, recently approved the referendum and the Fidesz-dominated National Assembly also signed off on it shortly thereafter.
As part of the government’s campaign, billboards are popping up around the country which read, “Let’s tell Brussels so they understand it, too!”
Hungarians are already posting pictures of the stellar billboards. Some news sites, such as 444.hu, are taking submissions from readers about the billboards in their areas.
Some citizens have already taken to vandalizing the billboards. The one below reads, “Let’s tell Brussels HELP US!”
