The weather might get colder, but this should not interfere with people’s desire to travel and discover new places. Here are a bunch of new destinations available from Budapest Airport during the winter season. Budapest Airport collected all the low-cost airlines’ newest routes for the coldest season of the year. The airport writes that the 2019 winter schedule, which officially started on 27 October, could be summed up as “exciting destinations for affordable prices”. Many new destinations were added, including Tel Aviv (Israel), Lappeenranta (Finland), and Porto (Portugal). It seems that the airlines aimed to please passengers looking for a winter wonderland, as well as people who want nothing more but to escape the cold and do some wintertime tanning on the beach.
The Irish low-cost airline surprised passengers with five brand new destinations from Budapest Airport: Tel Aviv (Israel), Lappeenranta (Finland), Poznan (Poland), Porto (Portugal), and Lisbon (Portugal). There are four weekly flights to Tel Aviv and two flights/week to Lappeenranta and Poznan. The Finnish city is available for the very first time from Budapest, and it is highly recommended for people who are all about Christmas and winter wonderlands. The city of Lappeenranta is situated on the shore of the lake Saimaa in South-Eastern Finland, about 30 kilometres from the Russian border. With approximately 73,000 inhabitants, Lappeenranta is the 13th largest city in Finland, and it is also a model to follow in terms of renewable energy use and clean living. Apart from these, the winter schedule also includes flights to Bordeaux, Gothenburg, Luxembourg, Odessa and Toulouse.
The Hungarian low-cost airline also got a few new routes, including Kazan (Russia), Odesa (Ukraine), and Edinburgh (Scotland). Kazan is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. It is also one of the oldest Russian cities. Kazan lies at the confluence of the Volga and Kazanka rivers, about 715 kilometres East from Moscow. Kazan is renowned for its vibrant mix of Oriental and Russian cultures. It is also referred to as the “sports capital of Russia.” British airline Jet2.com’s winter schedule includes flights to Birmingham (England).
