The 2022 Europa League final will be held in Budapest’s Puskás Arena, UEFA announced on Monday.
The UEFA executive committee’s landmark decision means Hungary gets to host its first-ever single-match final of a men’s international cup tournament.
The 2022 Europa League final will be held either on May 18 or May 25.
The Puskás Arena was inauguratedlast year, on November 15th. the UEFA category 4 stadium’s capacity is 68,000 for football events, while for concerts it can house 80,000 people.
At the upcoming Euro 2020, Puskás Aréna, Hungary’s biggest sports infrastructure investment in recent times, is scheduled to host four matches: three in the group stage and one in the round of 16.
The government has expressed hopethat the Arena will someday host a CL final.
The CEO of UEFA Events, Martin Kallen, also agreed that the Puskás Aréna and its facilities are suitable to host a Champions League final, as is Budapest.
